Carpool
across 6 countries
Slovakia, Czechia, Poland, Hungary, Croatia and Austria. Share the road with drivers who are already heading your way. Save money, meet people, and reduce your carbon footprint.
Why carpooling makes sense
Cost savings. Driving from Bratislava to Košice costs about €50–60 in fuel. When the driver splits it among four passengers at €25 each, they get back the full fuel cost and every passenger pays less than for a train or bus. Short trips like Bratislava → Trnava run €3–5.
Networking and meeting people. Four hours in a car with someone new is more conversation than a whole month in an open-space office. Many users become regular co-passengers of the same driver after their first carpool. Work contacts, friendships, and business connections form along the way.
No transfers, straight to the address. The train drops you at the main station, the bus at the bus station. A carpool driver picks you up at an agreed spot. Could be a motorway gas station, a shopping centre parking lot, or right outside the apartment block. You arrange the exact location in chat before departure.
Fewer cars on the road. Four empty seats on a Prague → Brno trip mean four extra cars that would otherwise drive the same route. Carpooling is the simplest way to actually reduce individual carbon footprint, without giving up the comfort of personal transport.

How it works
1. The driver adds a route. When they're going, from where and where to, how many seats are free, and at what price. The driver sets the price. Wandride doesn't take a commission from the payment.
2. The passenger reserves a seat. After finding a ride, they send the driver a request. The driver confirms or declines. After confirmation, a chat opens where both sides agree on the exact pickup location.
3. The trip and rating. After the ride, driver and passenger rate each other. Reliability, both in driving and paying, shows up in the profile. Ratings are the only lever that keeps the community honest.
Cargo: send a parcel with a driver
Beyond classic carpooling, Wandride also offers cargo mode. Send a parcel (S, M, L or XL by size) with a driver who's already heading your way. Useful when you don't need next-day express courier service and just want a low-cost alternative. Prices are typically 2–5× lower than classic courier services on the same route.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between carpool and regular taxi?
A taxi driver goes only for you and you pay the entire fare. With carpool, the driver is heading that way regardless. You just join in and split the fuel cost with them and other passengers. Carpool is typically 3–5× cheaper than a taxi.
Do I need to register?
Yes, registration is required so the driver knows who they're confirming the booking for and who they communicate with before departure. Registration is free and takes less than a minute.
Does Wandride take a commission from rides?
Wandride doesn't take a commission from the seat payment. The money goes between driver and passenger. Wandride earns from premium features for drivers and from cargo deliveries.
What if the driver cancels at the last minute?
The passenger receives a push notification and gets their money back. Drivers who cancel often have lower ratings and lose demand. Ratings are the main lever in the community.
Does carpooling work across borders?
Yes. Wandride covers 6 Central European countries and drivers regularly offer routes like Bratislava → Vienna, Prague → Bratislava, Budapest → Bratislava, Kraków → Žilina or Bratislava → Zagreb.
